As part of the recent growing number of militant defections, an Al-Shabaab member on Tuesday surrendered to SNA’s 60th Division in South West State. The militant was identified as Adan Issack Idow, also known by the alias Ayub Dheere.
Ayub Dheere had been involved with the Al-Shabaab group for seven years, participating in battles in the regions of Lower Shabelle and Bakool.
He explained the reasons that compelled him to leave the Al-Qaeda-allied group, stating that they misrepresent Islam, perpetrate injustice, and inflict suffering on the Somali people.
He concluded by sending a message to the youth associated with the group who were misled, urging them to leave the group and surrender to the government.
