(27-06-24) KISMAYO (Halqabsi News) – The Acting UN Special Representative to Somalia, James Swan, began his tour of Somalia’s Federal Member States today with a visit to Kismayo. In a meeting with Jubaland’s President Madobe and his cabinet, a wide range of critical issues were discussed, including the ongoing constitutional review process, the security situation, and urgent humanitarian needs in the region.
The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration between the UN and Jubaland’s leaders to address these pressing challenges. Representatives from various UN agencies, including UNFPA, UNICEF, and FAO, were part of the delegation, demonstrating the UN’s commitment to supporting Somalia across different sectors.
This visit marks the beginning of a series of meetings with leaders across the Federal Member States, aiming to strengthen the country’s partnership between the UN and regional authorities.
