(05-06-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Somali Transport Minister Fardowsa Osman Egal met with EU Ambassador Karin Johansson in Mogadishu on Tuesday to discuss enhancing cooperation in civil aviation and transport. Minister Egal expressed gratitude for the EU’s continued support in security and economic development, crucial for Somalia’s stability and growth.
The collaboration aims to make Somalia’s civil aviation system one of Africa’s most advanced through training and experience-sharing initiatives. Ambassador Johansson reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to helping Somalia achieve its developmental goals, emphasizing the importance of strengthening transport infrastructure and expertise. The ambassador and her team toured the civil aviation offices, observing the systems and staff in operation.
This partnership is expected to improve the capabilities of the Department’s staff through targeted training and knowledge exchange programs. The meeting represents a promising step towards enhancements in Somalia’s transport and aviation infrastructure, fostering improved connectivity and economic stability.
