(10-06-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Somali commando units of Danab and Jubbaland Deravishes, have liberated the village of Buulo-Haji, 90 km west of Kismayo, from Al-Shabaab control.
The operation, described as a comprehensive military effort, saw the forces overtake Al-Shabaab positions that had been used as a base for attacks against civilians.
“I commend our national army’s veterans for their bravery and steadfast commitment in expelling Al-Shabaab from the controlled remote areas,” Prime Minister Barre remarked. He emphasised the government’s ongoing efforts to eradicate Al-Shabaab and restore normalcy in affected regions.
The Prime Minister also assured that essential services, including education, healthcare, and security, will soon be restored in Buulo-Haji, mirroring efforts in other areas previously liberated from Al-Shabaab control.
This operation represents a key development in the conflict with Al-Shabaab, signalling a potential intensification of government efforts to combat the group after a period of relative inactivity.
