(10-07-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Airstrikes conducted overnight in the Kunyabarow area of Lower Shabelle have reportedly inflicted significant casualties on Al-Shabaab, including senior figures and foreign nationals.
Official sources revealed to Halqabsi News that the strikes targeted a meeting of high-ranking Al-Shabaab members, some of whom were from Arab and African countries. At least three munitions are believed to have hit the area, resulting in the confirmed deaths of six Al-Shabaab members and numerous injuries.
While the Somali government and its international partners have not officially commented, the attack comes amid escalating tensions and ongoing clashes between government forces, supported by the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), and Al-Shabaab in the region.
Last night, heavy fighting erupted in the Barire village following an Al-Shabaab assault, with the government claiming a major victory. Lower Shabelle remains a volatile region, with Al-Shabaab maintaining an active presence.
