(29 July 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – The Federal Government of Somalia has praised the National Armed Forces for their successful operation on 28 July 2024, in the outskirts of Elwaq District, Gedo region. The operation led to the arrest of six individuals involved in illegal tree-cutting.
The Ministry expressed gratitude to the Elwaq community for their role in reporting the environmental damage caused by the arrested group and encouraged continued support from local communities.
The Ministry urged the public to follow security warnings regarding deforestation, as violations may result in severe penalties. Moreover, the Ministry called on all Somali citizens to follow the Elwaq community’s example by reporting illegal tree-cutting activities, a crucial step in protecting the environment.
