(15 Aug 2024) JOWHAR (Halqabsi News) – In a crucial meeting held in Jowhar, federal and federal member state officials convened to tackle pressing issues facing Somalia’s agricultural sector. Chaired by HirShabelle President Ali Guudlawe, the discussions centred on mitigating the impact of flooding, combating pests, and boosting agricultural exports.
President Guudlawe stressed the urgent need for sustainable solutions to recurrent flooding, severely affecting farmers’ livelihoods. He underscored the government’s commitment to safeguarding agricultural production and expressed confidence in the proposed initiatives to address these challenges.
The agriculture ministers also engaged with local farmers’ cooperatives, who voiced their concerns regarding delays in agricultural production. This meeting exemplifies the collaborative efforts of federal and regional governments to strengthen Somalia’s agricultural sector and ensure food security amidst climate-related challenges.
