(28 Aug 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Somalia’s government has called for an immediate halt to clashes in areas near Erigavo district, Sanaag region between forces affiliated with Somaliland and SSC-Khaatumo. In a statement, the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation expressed concern over the loss of life and the risk of further escalation. The Ministry said it is closely monitoring the situation and has urged that no further violence be allowed to exacerbate tensions in a region still recovering from previous conflicts.
In response to the unrest, the Ministry has reached out to local authorities, traditional elders, and religious leaders, and stressed the need for calm and stability. It called on all parties to cease hostilities, warning that further bloodshed, incitement, or displacement could have severe and long-lasting consequences for the affected communities.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to achieving a peaceful resolution through dialogue and mutual understanding, pledging to collaborate with stakeholders in the region to ensure stability and safeguard the well-being of civilians.
