(31 Oct 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has officially closed the 5th Conference on Leadership and Creativity of Somali Youth, held over two days in Mogadishu. The event gathered young people from the capital and various regions of the country.
In his closing remarks, President Hassan Sheikh commended the Somali youth for their potential and contributions to the nation. He addressed the broader context of the country’s situation, particularly the upcoming elections, asserting a firm commitment to conducting the elections through a direct voting process. “We have been in indirect elections for 24 years, and we will not withdraw from going to elections with people and votes,” he stated emphatically.
The president reaffirmed that the elections are set to commence in mid-2025, emphasising the importance of public participation in the democratic process.
The forum served as a platform for inspiring the next generation of Somali leaders and fostering creativity among the youth.
