(10 Dec 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has appointed Mohamed Ahmed Amir as the new Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, replacing Yussuf Hussein Jimale ‘Maddale’ who assumed office in September 2022.
A seasoned expert in economic affairs, social development, and administration, Mr Amir has been tasked with advancing development plans for the capital. The President directed him to prioritise urban development, public elections for Mogadishu residents, beautification efforts, essential service delivery, and security enhancement.
In his statement, President Mohmud wished the new appointee success in his role and emphasised the importance of serving the Somali people with integrity and diligence. The presidential decree came into effect immediately upon his signature on Tuesday, 10 December 2024.
