(16 Mar 2025) GAROWE (Halqabsi News) – Puntland security forces say they have seized weapons stockpiles and vehicles belonging to Islamic State (IS) militants in the Cal-Miskaad mountains.
The operation, carried out in Togga Jeceel, resulted in the seizure of weapons depots and military supplies, the Puntland Maritime Police Force (PMPF) said in a statement.
The forces said they dismantled IS bases, including Godmadow, Lugta Laaska Wehelle, and Isha Dharabato, used for storing arms and logistical support.
Two IS explosives experts were killed in the operation, and a large weapons cache was seized, including:
- An Isuzu truck and a disassembled pickup vehicle
- Firearms and explosives
- Motorcycles and military supplies
“Puntland Defence Forces have taken full control of IS supply bases and neutralised key operatives,” the PMPF statement said. “These bases served as logistical hubs for the terrorists, and their destruction weakens IS’s operational capacity in the region.”
The Cal-Miskaad mountains have been used as a hideout by IS militants, but Puntland forces have increased operations in the area. Security officials have said they will continue raids until the group is eliminated from the region.
