(18 Mar 2025) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Three people, including two government soldiers and a civilian, have been killed in a clash between Somali security forces in Mogadishu’s Yaaqshiid district on Tuesday.
The fighting took place in the Sanca area, near the Tookiyo neighbourhood, involving units from the Somali Police and the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA). The cause of the clash is unclear.
Incidents involving clashes between government forces are not uncommon in Mogadishu. A recent gunfight in Abdiaziz district, reportedly over a property dispute, also resulted in casualties.
The incident comes at a time of heightened tensions in Mogadishu, with reports of Al-Shabab militants operating in areas near the capital.
Calm has now been restored in Sanca. The recurrence of armed clashes between security forces has raised concerns about discipline and coordination.
