(22 Apr 2025) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Somali National Army and local fighters have inflicted significant losses on Al-Shabaab militants during operations in the Towfiiq and Wargaadhi areas of Middle Shabelle on Tuesday.
The joint operations took place in territories near Masaajid Cali Gaduud, where the militants had been planning fresh attacks against civilians. According to military officials, the operations thwarted those plans and forced the militants to flee into the hinterlands.
“We are now pursuing the fleeing remnants across the howd areas. The end of this terror is near,” read a statement from the Ministry of Defence, which confirmed the militants suffered heavy losses.
Field commanders said the time has come to decisively eliminate the scattered remnants of the group hiding in remote villages. SNA and community forces have ramped up efforts to ensure the group’s operational capabilities are dismantled before they regroup.
