(23 Feb 2025) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — The Council of Ministers of the Federal Government of Somalia convened a special session on Sunday, giving the green light to the National Transformation Plan (NTP 2025-2029), a strategic roadmap aimed at steering the country toward its long-term development goals.
The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, also saw the approval of two key legislative measures: the Establishment Act for the National Centre for Rural Development and Sustainable Solutions and the National Policy on the Formation of the Higher Institute for Legal Training and Development.
The Establishment Act for the National Centre for Rural Development and Sustainable Solutions holds particular significance for Somalia’s pastoralist communities. It lays the groundwork for a structured development approach to combat poverty and displacement while bolstering the rural economy.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet commended the armed forces and local security units for their ongoing efforts in pushing back against Al-Shabaab militant groups, successfully thwarting planned attacks aimed at destabilising the Somali people.
