(23-05-23) MOGADISHU – The Director General of the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Abdullahi Hayi Duale, commenced a three-day meeting in Mogadishu on Monday, focusing on the formation of the country’s national media strategy.
The consultation convened key officials from government media, information offices of various government agencies, the Banadir region, and several independent media entities. This dynamic mix of participants is expected to leverage a diverse set of perspectives, thus ensuring a well-rounded approach to the national media strategy.
Over the course of the three-day conference, attendees will deliberate on formulating a comprehensive strategy to streamline the country’s information dissemination processes. The proposed strategy aims to cater to the specific needs of the Somali people, thereby fostering a more informed and engaged populace.
Abdullahi Hayi Duale, at the helm of the Ministry of Information, lauded the efforts of a dedicated office set up by the ministry. This office, tasked with unifying government messages, has already made substantial strides in disseminating accurate news to the Somali people.
“The office has been crucial in ensuring that official information from the government is not only delivered timely but also accurately reflects the message the government intends for the people,” said Duale.
The outcomes of this conference are eagerly awaited, as they promise to usher in a new era of media strategy and communication infrastructure for Somalia.
