(27-06-23) MOGADISHU — On Monday, the Banadir Regional Police announced the apprehension of the individual suspected to have orchestrated Sunday’s mortar attack on the Halane Centre and the Aden Adde airport in Mogadishu.
The attack, which utilised artificial missiles, was aimed at causing unrest amongst the capital’s residents. The Banadir Police Department identified the suspect as Hussein Ali Deerow Bule in a statement.
The statement also revealed that an emergency operation conducted by the forces overseeing the security of the capital resulted in the capture of a primary conspirator, who was believed to be leading the militants responsible for the attack.
The prompt arrest of Bule was likely facilitated by Sunday’s discovery of a house where Al-Shabaab militants were suspected of firing mortars. Multiple unused mortar shells were found at the scene.
As Mogadishu’s security forces continue their diligent work, the residents of the capital can find some reassurance in the knowledge that those intent on disturbing their peace and stability are being held accountable.
