(26/07/23) MOGADISHU – Somalia and Italy signed an agreement on Wednesday to improve emergency services in Somalia. The agreement was signed by Foreign Affairs Minister Abshir Huruse of Somalia and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani of Italy. The agreement marks a momentous diplomatic development and aims to bolster bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The agreement acknowledges the vital importance of efficient emergency response systems to safeguard citizens’ well-being and improve disaster management capabilities. By combining expertise and resources, Somalia and Italy are aiming to enhance emergency services’ effectiveness and responsiveness, thereby better protecting the lives and welfare of Somali citizens.
Minister Huruse expressed his gratitude for Italy’s willingness to support Somalia’s development efforts, and Deputy Prime Minister Tajani reaffirmed Italy’s commitment helping Somalia in various sectors.
