(2/08/23) MOGADISHU – The Minister of Finance of Somalia, Bihi Eghe, and the British Ambassador to Somalia, Mike Nithavrianakis, met on Wednesday to discuss the implementation of Somalia’s economic reform program and the country’s post-HIPC agenda.
During their meeting, Eghe and Nithavrianakis discussed the progress that Somalia has made on its economic reform program. They also discussed the challenges that remain and how the UK can continue to support Somalia’s efforts to reach the HIPC completion point.
“We are committed to delivering Somalia’s reforms,” Eghe said after the meeting. “We appreciate the support of the UK, and we are confident that we can achieve our goals.”
Nithavrianakis said that the UK is a “debt relief champion” for Somalia, and that the country fully supports Somalia’s ambition to reach the completion point of the HIPC program.
