(24-08-23) MOGADISHU – Somali military court in Mogadishu on Thursday sentenced the driver and passengers of a Toyota Landcruiser intercepted in April with explosives. Yusuf Ali Nuune Aden, the driver, received a three-year sentence in a military prison for failing to inspect his cargo and passengers.
Five women believed to be wives of Al-Shabaab militants, were on board. Named Khadro Mohamed Ise Warsame, Aisha Muhuddin Mohamud Afrah, Sahro Hussein Ise Mohamud, Nacima Farah Shiq-Doon Fidow, and Khadijo Soddal Mohamud Adi, they received two years in police custody and are prohibited from leaving Mogadishu.
Mohamed Sandhere Siad Barre, the vehicle’s conductor, was exonerated and released. Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Ali Noor Shute stated Barre was not implicated in the case.
