(30/08/23) MOGADISHU – Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, leading a delegation, arrived in Mahadday district of Middle Shabelle earlier on Wednesday. As per local media, the Prime Minister’s visit aims to ramp up efforts against Al-Shabaab in the Middle Shabelle region. He is scheduled to meet the Somali National Army (SNA) and their commanders, urging them to maintain momentum in the ongoing campaign, particularly as they approach the conclusion of the first phase of operations against the extremist group.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Barre will evaluate the conditions in areas recently liberated from Al-Shabaab’s influence. His visit coincides with the extended stay of the nation’s Head of State, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, in Dhusamareb, the administrative hub of Galmudug. The president has been there for the past month, directing the combat operations against Al-Shabaab in the central regions.
