(31-08-23) MOGADISHU — The commander of the Somali National Army, General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhuddin, broke his silence on Wednesday, providing insight into the army’s war strategy in the regions of Galgaduud and Mudug.
According to General Muhuddin, the strategic decision to engage in combat in these regions was meticulously planned. The army is urging residents to prepare defences and deploy Mawisley forces after the army frees them from Alshabaab, the army needs to match forward, stated Gen. Muhidiin.
“As you know, the army has retreated from captured areas from Alshabaab. So the people are expected to organise themselves. Let the people defend, and keep their integrity,” said General Muhuddin in a candid address to the local residents in Aadan Yabaal.
Interestingly, General Muhuddin hails from Adan Yabal District, an area he claims has been neglected for over six decades. In an appeal to the Prime Minister, he emphasised that the men of Adan Yabal have been instrumental in fighting against extremist factions such as the Alshabaab group.
“The men who fought in Adan Yabal District are the most effective men in the fight against the Alshabaab Khawarij group, Prime Minister. Therefore, we ask you to look after the people of Adan Yabal,” he stated.
