(31-10-23) DHUSAMAREB — An ongoing clan feud took deadly in Dhusamareb, the administrative capital of Galmudug State, where two businessmen were shot and killed on Tuesday evening. The victims have been identified as Sheikh Hassan Diirshe Ade and Said Tahleel Mohamed, both members of the Saleeban clan.
The armed gunmen, suspected to be from the Ayr clan, opened fire in Dhusamareb’s main market shortly after the Maghrib prayer. They successfully evaded capture and are currently at large. Authorities in Galmudug have launched a full-scale investigation to apprehend the suspects.
The deadly attack is believed to be a retaliatory measure for a violent incident in Hananboore, north of Dhusamareb on Monday. In that event, Saleeban gunmen killed a member of the Ayr clan and wounded another, exacerbating existing tensions.
This latest act has not only shaken the Dhusamareb community but also signifies an alarming extension of clan hostilities into larger urban areas. “We are concerned that these acts of violence are now affecting our major cities, putting civil harmony at risk,” stated Commander Galmdug Dervish Col. Ahmed Abdalla to Halqabsi News.
Despite urgent calls for peace from leaders of both clans, the situation remains tense. The killings have heightened fears among residents of Dhusamareb and neighbouring city Adado, amplifying concerns that the violence could escalate further if not addressed immediately.
