(06/11/23) MOGADISHU — The Somali National Armed Forces’ 21st Division, supported by local citizens and Galmudug dervishes, seized control of Barag Mohamed Daud village, situated 16 kilometres from Dabagalo in the Mudug region, on Monday.
This strategic victory, led by Major General Abdi Salad, Commander of the 21st Division, involved a concerted attack in the forested area around the village. The operation resulted in the dispersal of Al-Shabaab militants who had entrenched themselves in the village.
The capture of Barag Mohamed Daud is a significant development in the ongoing efforts against Al-Shabaab in the Galmudug Regional Government’s areas. As the military campaign continues, the forces remain committed to disrupting and dismantling Al-Shabaab’s presence in the region.
This victory bolsters the Somali government’s resolve to restore peace and stability across its territories, particularly in areas plagued by Al-Shabaab’s activities.
