(20-12-23) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has offered his heartfelt condolences on the passing of the country’s Minister for Women and Human Rights, Ms Khadija Mohamed Dirie.
In a brief mourning statement, the president said: “The passing of MP Khadija Mohamed Dirie is tragic news that has profoundly affected our hearts and brought immense sorrow to the people and the government of Somalia. May Allah grant mercy upon her soul. The esteemed Khadijo was instrumental in the reconstruction of Somalia’s third republic, serving as a member of the inaugural parliament post-collapse and continually contributing to the People’s House thereafter.”
The statement added that MP Khadijo was also a dedicated minister, serving in various capacities and dedicating her efforts to our nation during its most challenging periods. She was distinguished by her advocacy and empathy for our most vulnerable citizens, including women and the youth.
“May Allah bestow mercy upon Khadija’s soul; may He place her in Jannah; and may He provide endurance and faith to the Somali nation and to her bereaved family and relatives. Amen,”
