(02-01-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Somali Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre today affirmed the inviolability of the country’s land, sea, and airspace. The statement came during a cabinet emergency meeting amidst discussions about Ethiopian interests in Somali maritime areas.
Prime Minister Hamsa appealed for calm among the Somali people, emphasizing the government’s commitment to defend the nation’s territorial integrity. “Our land, sea, and airspace are sacrosanct, and we stand ready to defend them,” he stated, underscoring the importance of national defence.
Highlighting the role of the Somali people in this collective effort, Hamsa reiterated the nation’s capability to safeguard its sovereignty. This stance comes at a time when Somalia faces increasing attention over its maritime resources.
In a unifying call, the Prime Minister urged Somali citizens and political leaders to transcend their differences and collaborate in the country’s defence. He stressed that the current focus should be on protecting national sovereignty rather than internal issues.
