(05-02-24) KAMPALA (Halqabsi News) — Major General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhuddin Addow, the Commander of the Somali National Army, and his Ugandan counterpart, General Wilson Mbadi, met in Kampala on Monday and vowed to enhance military collaboration in their concerted fight against terrorism. This dialogue underscored the mutual determination of Somalia and Uganda to reinforce regional security and advance counter-terrorism initiatives.
General Mbadi affirmed Uganda’s solid support to Somalia, promising military aid to boost the Somali Armed Forces’ fight against insurgent groups. The discussions focused on escalating joint operations to dismantle terrorist networks, showcasing a united front against the common threat.
Major General Addow’s visit to the Uganda National Defense College further symbolised the strengthening military relationship, providing a venue for sharing defence strategies. This meeting marks a significant step in the Somali-Ugandan partnership, with Uganda playing a key role in training Somali soldiers and contributing to the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), poised to hand over security responsibilities to Somalia by year’s end.
This reinforced alliance underscores the regional commitment to combating terrorism, aiming for a more secure East Africa through collaborative military efforts.
