(08-03-24) BAIDOA (Halqabsi News) — Officers and deputy commanding officers from the Somali National Army’s 60th Division completed a three-day training session on Saturday aimed at improving civil-military relations and assisting vulnerable populations.
The training, organised by Civil-Military Co-operation (CIMIC), is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the Somali forces’ capabilities in engaging with and supporting local communities. The programme focused on equipping military personnel with the necessary skills to effectively conduct civil-military activities within their areas of responsibility.
Brigadier General Ibrahim Zoona, Deputy Director of Coordination between the Armed Forces and the People, presided over the closing ceremony. He stressed the importance of the training and urged the participants to share the knowledge gained with their colleagues and integrate it into their daily operations.
The initiative received backing from UKaid, Ministry of Defence and the Somali National Army, highlighting international support for Somalia’s stability and development. The training underscores the commitment to fostering a positive relationship between the military and the civilian populace, a crucial step towards national recovery and peace-building.
