(01 Oct 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – In a formal handover ceremony, the Minister of Security of the Federal Government of Somalia, Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartaag transferred leadership of the Somali Police Force to the newly appointed Commissioner, Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi, at the force’s headquarters in Mogadishu. The outgoing Police Commander, Brigadier General Sulub Ahmed Firin, who was appointed as the deputy minister for transport and civil aviation ministry, welcomed the new Chief and the Minister at the Police Headquarters.
The Minister and the incoming Police Chief inspected the operations of key departments and units within the police force as part of the leadership transition. Following the handover, Brigadier General Abdullahi officially took command and immediately urged officers to intensify their efforts in maintaining national security, safeguarding Somali citizens, and adhering to police protocols.
The new Chief emphasised the critical role of the police in protecting the lives, property, and dignity of citizens while reiterating the importance of law enforcement in upholding peace and stability across the country.
