(03 Oct 2024) BOSASO (Halqabsi News) – Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni launched a major mobilisation campaign in Bosaso, Bari region, to combat anti-peace groups, including Al-Shabaab, Daesh, and pirates. President Deni arrived alongside senior officials, including the 1st Deputy Speaker of Parliament, and members of Puntland’s administrative councils.
According to the Puntland Presidency, President Deni will personally lead operations against militants hiding in the Al-Madaw and Al-Miskaad mountains, spanning the Bari and Sanaag regions, which have long been strongholds for terrorist groups and insurgents.
The Puntland government is also expected to meet with the High Command of the European Union Naval Forces (EUNAVFOR) aboard a ship stationed off the coast of Bosaso. Discussions will focus on strengthening maritime security cooperation, combating piracy, and preventing the smuggling of illegal arms. The talks will further address counter-terrorism efforts and improved intelligence sharing.
In recent remarks, President Deni vowed to eliminate the groups, including foreign fighters, that pose a threat to Puntland’s security and development.
