(09 Oct 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Salah Jama, federal government officials and UNICEF Somalia representatives convened in Mogadishu on Wednesday to outline a new five-year Country Programme on child welfare and community support. The meeting was to set shared priorities aligned with Somalia’s broader transformation agenda, underscoring the country’s commitment to advancing health, education, and protection for its youngest citizens.
Deputy Prime Minister Jama emphasised Somalia’s investment in a young, empowered civil service as a cornerstone of this plan. “As a country, we have invested in our civil service, empowering young, passionate professionals to drive change across ministries and public institutions,” he stated, recognising their role in ensuring a unified, results-driven approach to national development goals. This dedication from Somali youth is seen as essential for delivering long-term, impactful outcomes in child and community welfare.
The partnership between the Somali government and UNICEF aims to foster sustainable growth and resilience among children and families, focusing on inclusivity and shared responsibility to meet the urgent needs of Somali communities and build a foundation for future generations.
