The international community has condemned the Somaliland militia’s actions and has been called upon to intervene in the worsening humanitarian crisis in the area.
The fighting in Lasanod has been ongoing for twenty days, and the situation continues to deteriorate. The SSC forces have successfully taken over the Gulwade camp, which was the seat of the Somaliland army command in Sool. This marks a significant victory for the SSC forces, who have been fighting to protect the people of SSC.
In the latest development, Somaliland attacked the city on two fronts, leading to an hour of intense fighting. Bihi’s local commander Mahad Canbaashe was ultimately defeated, and his forces suffered significant losses. The situation in Lasanod remains dire, with the destruction of the power source leaving the city in complete darkness. The fighting in Laascaanood has been ongoing for several weeks, resulting in over 110 deaths, more than 500 injuries, and the displacement of over 180,000 people who have fled to Ethiopia due to an escalation in fighting in the town.
