(29 July 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Somalia’s Chief Justice Bashir Yusuf Ahmed travelled to Arusha, Tanzania, on Monday following an official invitation from the East African Court of Justice (EACJ). The meeting seeks to introduce Chief Justice Ahmed to the EACJ leadership and familiarise him and his delegation with the court’s operations.
The visit will also seek to enhance relations between the Somalia courts and the EACJ, to promote adherence to legal standards within the East African Community. Somalia has recently joined the East African Community as its eighth member and affirmed its commitment to regional cooperation.
