(22/07/23) MUGADHISHU – The South West state government announced that it would launch an operation to clear Al-Shabaab militants from the Muqdisho-Baidabo route, ensuring safe transit. With the goal of effectively eliminating the remaining presence of Al Shabab terrorists in the area.
Mr. Mohamed Sheikh Abdullahi Hayow, the South West State president’s advisor, said that the government intends to break the weeks-long siege that has restricted trade and people’s movement in the region.
He also stated that the South West Darwish army, as well as federal government forces, will conduct an operation in the area where the Alshabab are stationed.
“The preparation for the second phase of the fight against Al-Shabaab is currently underway; the armed forces of South West State and the federal government military will participate in an operation aimed at ending the presence of Al-Shabaab in the Area.” Mr. Mohmed Sheikh said.
