South West Leader Arrives in Mogadishu

(02 Oct 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – South West leader Abdiaziz Mohamed Hassan ‘Laftagareen’ arrived in Mogadishu on Wednesday with a large delegation to attend the upcoming National Consultative Council meeting. President Laftagareen was welcomed at Aden Abdulle International Airport by federal government officials and federal MPs from his constituency. He will join other Federal Member States in the capital to attend the Villa Somalia-convened meeting of the National Consultative Council, which comprises the federal government, federal Member States and Banadir Regional Administration leaders.

Jubaland leader Ahmed Mohamed Islam is expected to arrive later today, while Galmudug’s Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor and HirShabelle’s Ali Gudlawe are already in Mogadishu.

The National Consultative Council is set to take place in the coming days at Villa Somalia to discuss key national issues on security, elections, and state-building efforts. Puntland leader Said Abdullahi Deni continues to skip the event due to his differences with the top federal government leadership.
